ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a material for preserving perishable goods which is made of a raw material mixed with coral sand. The coral sand is plated with silver only or with silver and zinc, or with silver, zinc and copper. The amount of plated silver is in the range of about 0.01 to about 15 wt %, while the total amount of plated silver and zinc or plated silver, zinc and copper is in the range of about 1 to about 15 wt %. Preferably, the raw material is synthetic resin. According to the present material, it exhibits an excellent freshness-keeping effect for perishable goods and a sterilizing effect. In addition, it posesses bacterial-growth suppressing and fungiproof abilities and the like.
