The present invention relates to a matrix material for the safe intermediate and/or final storage of radioactive waste, said matrix comprising graphite and at least one inorganic binder. Known materials do not guarantee that radioactive waste can be safely encased for a period of more than 10 million years. The matrix material and blocks made thereof are suitable for the safe embedding and final storage of radioactive waste for an even longer time than this. Further, blocks made of the matrix material can be easily manufactured with the radioactive waste encased in the blocks.
La présente invention concerne un matériau matriciel pour le stockage intermédiaire et/ou final sans danger de déchets radioactifs, composé de graphite et d'au moins un liant inorganique. Les matériaux connus jusqu'ici ne garantissent pas que les déchets radioactifs restent enfermés sur une période de plus de 10 millions d'années. Le matériau matriciel, ainsi que des blocs du même matériau, conviennent pour l'inclusion et le stockage final sans danger de déchets radioactifs sur une période encore plus longue que celle ci-dessus. Par ailleurs, des blocs du matériau matriciel contenant des déchets radioactifs inclus peuvent être fabriqués sans problème.
