-12- ABSTRACT The invention relates to a matrix of light-emitting elements each having a conducting pin, an insulating ring and a conducting ring, a component being mounted on the upper surface of the pin. The elements are arranged in holes of an insulating substrate and are electrically connected according to lines by metallizations of the upper surface of the substrate and according to columns by metallizations of the lower surface of the substrate. According to the method, the elements are introduced into the holes of the substrate and are united on the one hand with the metallizations (22) and on the other hand with the metallizations(24). A wafer carrying parabolic reflecting cavities is mounted so as to engage the substrate and is held in place by cooperation between openings forming a prolongation of the cavities and conducting rings.
