ABSTRACT This invention relates to electronic computer memories and relates specifically to a memory using a matrix pattern for recording machine information. The method is based on the principle of matrix resonance, achieved by recording the same information in a number of locations regardless of overlapping other recorded information. Retrieval or read-out/playback of desired information is accomplished by selecting out the original matrix pattern and combining the selected identical signals to provide self-reinforcement of the combined signal and at the same time the unselected signals are attenuated by interference. The interference occurs in the following way. When binary signal elements are used, for example, a one is recorded as a positive value and a zero is recorded as an equal negative value. A filter analyser is adapted to measure the sum value of the combination of selected signal elements and then generates a one or a zero basedon the strength of the total combination. A total of random signal elements averages zero, whereas the average of a selected self-reinforced signal element is a zero or a one. Ordinary data storage methods are limited by the one-on-one ratio of bits of information compared to storage space. The method of matrix resonance permits the same storage space to be used many times. Selection of wanted information is achieved by keying-in a file name/number which generates the recording pattern and tracking pattern for the specific information that is to be released from the system.
