IMPROVED MATTRESS Abstract of the Disclosure A mattress (10) formed of a compressible foam core (26) having a quilted cushioning pad (24) formed on each side. The pad (24) consists of a first layer of compressible foam (32), a second layer (34) of fibrous material covered with a fabric cloth (36) that is stitch quilted thereto. Alternatively, an intermediate layer (60) may be placed between a core (58) and a quilted pad (52) having convolutions (66) formed on the top (64) to provide greater support and firmness. Alternatively, a mattress (40) formed of the above-described construction can be made in three sections (42) of equal size and shape to be interchangeable and attached together with hinge members (44) to permit repositioning of the sections with respect to one another. -9-
