An in utero simulation is provided to increase mental security of new born babies and help their normal growth and developement by decreasing mental agitation and increa- sing rest periods. In families with a newly born baby, the most common phenomenon to be observed is that the parents hardly get a full night's rest. This is because apart form the feeding periods which have to be kept up, the babies may have other discomforts which they can only express in crying. This infant-parent communication has its validity where the child's discomfort is caused either by sickness or its physical needs like hunger or wet diapers. It has, however, been noted that many times, a healthy baby, just fed, cleaned and changed, seems to get into a state of utmost disorientation and cries over longer periods without any apparent rea- son. It is felt that the main reason for this behaviour is psychological. In modern homes, upon getting the certainty that a baby is expected, parents make a special room ready for the newly born. The room is decorated and furnished to meet all needs of the infant. However, the room is usually very quiet and there is hardly any phy- sical contact with the mother or with any situation the baby has experienced during its featal developement. This derivement of familiar ambience can cause anxieties in the newly born leading to its expressing its fears in form of cries. It is also evident, that when babies undergo such anxieties and fears, their normal deve- lopement is influenced i.e in extreme cases, it could lead to later psychological disorders. Babies have no other form of self articulation except crying, which in turn could make the parent agitated and this has often led to child maltreatment. Observations in human communities of third world or animals, especially primates, have shown that their babies are always kept very close to the mother and hence abnormal behaviour due to stress is more or less absent in these infants. It has also been obser- ved that when crying babies are held close by mothers who then gently rock it and sooth it verbally, invariably calm it down and the baby later sleeps well. Studies carried out by pediatric specialists have also shown that there are positive relations, feedbacks and in- fluencies on child behaviour and its developement if some elements of its experiences in the mothers womb are artificially recreated. The invention is a mattress and/or a lining providing a floatation simulation to the infant and at the same time a sensation felt on its full body that corresponds to uteral sensa- tions of receiving the mother's heart beats. The unique characteristic of this invention is the application of sublimally felt closeness to the mother and physically felt resemblance of floating, whereby the same medium imparts both sensations on the infant as it is the case in the womb.
