ABSTRACT The invention relates to a device for accommodating an ink rol- ler having a circular cylindrical ink carrier body and end discs disposed at the end faces thereof. The diameter of these end discs is larger than that of the ink carrier body. Such ink rollers are used in printing mechanisms to ink the print types before carrying out the actual printing operation. To facilitate the handling of such ink rollers, especially when replacing a used ink roller with a new ink roller, and to avoid soiling the fingers or clothing of the operator, the device contains two U-shaped shells (2, 3) connected together, their width at their open ends being equal to the width of the ink roller to be accommodated. The depth of these shells (2, 3) is equal to the diameter of the end discs of the ink roller to be accommodated and the shells (2, 3) have at both sides regions (16, 17, 18, 19) which act as clamps for the end discs, whereby the width of the one shell (2) is con- stant over its entire depth, while the depth of the other shell (3) in- creases from the open end in the direction towards the closed end. The de- vice makes it possible to take a used ink roller out of the printing mech- anism and to insert a new one without having to touch the ink roller with the fingers. The used ink roller remains in the device in a relatively pro- tected position.
