ABSTRACT MEANS FOR ATTENUATING SOUND ENERGY, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF In a "linear" acoustic panel a facing sheet for a honeycomb core layer which has an imperforate backing sheet, comprises an apertured layer of fibre/resin composite material, preferably of an open weave to provide the apertures, and a porous layer face-to-face with the apertured layer with its pores substantially smaller than the apertures. One convenient way of making such a facing sheet is to cure the composite to shape on a tool with the porous layer in contact with it whereby the cured resin of the composite adheres the porous layer to the apertured layer.
