An improved apparatus for the compressive shrinking of fibrous web materials is disclosed. The apparatus uses a system of moving rolls (2, 4) of different speeds cooperating with a confining member (7) to form a stuffing chamber wherein a web material moves in a passageway (15, 15') where it is compacted. The addition of means (50) for moving the rolls to provide a substantially uniform dimension to the passageway facilitates the compaction of the web material.

L'invention concerne un appareil amélioré de rétrécissement compressif de bandes fibreuses. L'appareil met en oeuvre un système à différentes vitesses de déplacement des cylindres (2, 4) coopérant avec un élément d'obturation (7) afin de former une chambre de matière de rembourrage, la bande de matériau se déplaçant dans un passage (15, 15') où elle est comprimée. En ajoutant au passage un dispositif (50) pour déplacer les cylindres, on obtient une dimension pratiquement uniforme, ce qui facilite la compression de la bande de matériau.
