ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for dividing a supply of logs delivered by a conveyor to an aperture into portions comprises a log support pivotable between a first position in which the logs are retained from falling through the aperture and a second position in which the log are no longer retained by the log support. Grippers at opposite sides of the aperture above this support can be actuated to grip the logs therebetween and thereby temporarily retain the logs to limit the number of logs which form each portion.
