A heat transfer element basket assembly for a rotary regenerative heat exchanger having a splitter plate or stiffening member mounted between the heat transfer plates at a position intermediate between the inner and outer ends of the basket. The stiffening member includes elongated slots adjacent the top surface which accommodate lifting lugs. Elongated slots and lifting lugs also may be included adjacent the bottom surface of the basket. These lugs slide up and down within the elongated slots to an extended position partially above the surface of the basket when in the lifting mode and to a retracted position fullybelow the surface when not in use. Since the lugs are retracted when the basket has been placed in the rotor, they will not interfere with the vertically adjacent baskets. This means that the baskets have a low profile and can be tightly packed in the rotor.
Ensemble de paniers pour éléments de transfert de chaleur destiné à un échangeur de chaleur rotatif à régénération ayant un panneau de séparation ou élément raidisseur monté entre les plaques de transfert de chaleur à une position intermédiaire entre le bout intérieur et le bout extérieur du panier. L'élément raidisseur comporte des fentes allongées près de la surface supérieure, lesquelles reçoivent des oreilles de levage. On peut aussi prévoir des fentes allongées et des oreilles de levage près de la surface inférieure du panier. Ces oreilles coulissent verticalement dans les fentes allongées jusqu'à une position étendue partiellement au-dessus de la surface du panier quand elles sont en mode de levage et jusqu'à une position rétractée complètement sous la surface quand elles ne sont pas utilisées. Comme les oreilles sont rétractées quand le panier a été placé dans le rotor, elles ne font pas obstacle aux paniers verticalement adjacents. Ce qui suppose que les paniers ont un profil bas et peuvent être étroitement serrés dans le rotor.
