The present invention relates to a method and a device for measurement of a diameter of cylindrical objects (2) with a longitudinal axis from a distance. A method according to the present invention, comprises the following steps: generating an illuminated line of intersection (10) with the substantially cylindrical object (2) by a light source (6), the illuminated line of intersection (10) being substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, capturing an image of this line of intersection (10) by means of a camera (12), the optical axis (15) of which is oriented towards the object and is inclined with respect to the illuminated line of intersection (10), the image having two extremities corresponding to the extremities of the line of intersection (10) with the substantially cylindrical object (2), and calculating the diameter of the substantially cylindrical object (2) based on the image, the calculation being based on the supposition that the projections from the camera towards the extremities are tangents to the substantially cylindrical object (2). A device according to the present invention comprises corresponding elements.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de mesurer à distance le diamètre d'objets sensiblement cylindriques (2) ayant un axe longitudinal. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: illumination d'une ligne d'intersection (10) avec l'objet (2) par une source lumineuse (6), la ligne d'intersection illuminée (10) étant sensiblement perpendiculaire à l'axe longitudinal; saisie d'une image sur cette ligne d'intersection (10) au moyen d'un appareil de prise de vues (12), dont l'axe optique (15) est orienté vers l'objet et incliné par rapport à ladite ligne (10), sachant que l'image a deux extrémités correspondant aux extrémités de la ligne d'intersection (10) avec l'objet (2); et calcul du diamètre de l'objet (2) sur la base de l'image, ce calcul étant fondé sur la supposition selon laquelle les lignes projetées depuis l'appareil de prise de vues vers les extrémités sont tangentes à l'objet (2).
