ABSTRACT A thickness measurement of a portion of a non- metallic material molded body, particularly, a wall of ceramics or plastics tubes, can be simply performed with high precision, by contacting one side of the portion with a metal and the other side with a measuring probe, such as a solenoid coil, generating an alternating magnetic field and measuring the energy loss of the magnetic field which depends on the thickness of the molded body. The energy loss can be measured by detecting a variation of voltage of an A.C. bridge circuit including the coil as a component. Typically, as the metal in the measurement technique the metallic mold used in making the body, such as a ceramic body, can be used.
