ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a device for the measurement of the partial pressure of gases or vapors in the blood stream of animals which comprises a body having a boundary wall which can be placed on the skin of an animal and an internal collecting chamber in which gases or vapors which diffuse through an area of skin defined by the boundary wall can be collected, heating means in the body operable to heat the said area of skin, and an outlet from the collecting chamber through which the gases or vapors collected in the chamber can be led away to an analysis instrument. Electronic control means are utilized to control the heating means and monitor the temperature of the skin area.
