Measurements of concentrations of hydrogen peroxide vapor in the presence of water vapor is made using near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy with fiber optic cables to transmit infrared radiation between, e.g, a sterilization chamber and the NIR instrument. Hydrogen peroxide absorbs selectively at about 1420 nm, where water vapor also absorbs, but the absorbance at 1420 nm can be corrected for water vapor measurements at remote wavelengths where H202 is transparent. The measurement process also may be incorporated into a control system assuring optimum hydrogen peroxide vapor concentrations for the sterilization procedure.

On mesure la concentration de vapeur de peroxyde d'hydrogène en présence de vapeur d'eau par spectroscopie dans le proche infrarouge (PIR) au moyen de fibres optiques pour transmettre le rayonnement infrarouge, par exemple d'une chambre de stérilisation à l'appareil de spectroscopie PIR. Le peroxyde d'hydrogène absorbe sélectivement à environ 1420 nm, où la vapeur d'eau absorbe aussi, mais l'absorbance à 1420 nm peut être corrigée grâce à des mesures de vapeur d'eau à des longueurs d'onde pour lesquelles H202 est transparent. Le procédé de mesure peut aussi comprendre un système de contrôle permettant d'assurer une concentration optimale de vapeur de peroxyde d'hydrogène pour la procédure de stérilisation.
