A commonly used tool in the Electrical Industry is a "fish tape" (protected under patent #US04092780) which is a long rectangular spring steel wire used for pulling wire conductors through conduit (pipe) for mechanical protection. In many cases the electrician must know; to some degree of accuracy how long the conduit run is in order to cut an appropriate length of conductor or to know how much conductor to purchase. This can be a tedious and time consuming task with a tape measure especially in situations where the conduit is concealed either by a wall, ceiling, or under a poured cement floor. In this invention units of measurement are impressed onto the fish tape for an efficient and confident conductor length, thus saving the electrician time and eliminating the risk of excess waste.
