A soil measurement probe (21) includes a window (38) mounted in an opening (40) in the outer surface (34) of the probe, a light source (42) disposed within the probe and directed toward the window for illuminating the soil in situ, with light of wavelengths corresponding to the colors red, blue and green, in succession. A photo-detector (44) disposed within the probe is directed toward the window, the photo-detector responsive to light of each of the first and second wavelengths as reflected from the soilin situ. The probe is useful for measuring the color of the soil as an R-G-B measurement. Other soil parameters are obtained by correlation with soil color.
Une sonde (21) destinée à des mesures du sol comprend une fenêtre (38) montée dans une ouverture (40) à la surface extérieure (34) de la sonde, une source lumineuse (42) disposée à l'intérieur de la sonde et dirigée vers la fenêtre, pour l'éclairage du solin situ, au moyen d'une lumière de longueurs d'onde correspondant aux couleurs, dans l'ordre, rouge, bleu et vert. Un photodétecteur (44), monté à l'intérieur de la sonde, est dirigé vers la fenêtre, ledit photo-détecteur étant sensible à la lumière de chacune des premières et secondes longueurs d'onde, réfléchie par le sol in situ. La sonde est utilisée pour la mesure de la couleur du sol, sous forme d'une mesure R-G-B. D'autres paramètres du sol sont obtenus par corrélation avec la couleur du sol.
