Abstract A meat handling roller adapted to roll along an over- head I-beam rail or the like, comprising a frame of round metal stock having a transverse base and upwardly extending side arms, said base and arms being generally U-shaped, said frame also hav- ing inwardly extending projections at the upper ends of the said arms, said projections being collinear,parallel to the base and having spaced confronting extremities, said projections, side arm and portions of said base proximate to said side arm being in- tegral, generally cylindrical rollers each having a central, con- centric cavity into which one of the extensions is fitted to se- cure said roller for rotation thereabout, a suspension hook se- cured to the outer side of the base of the frame, said hook com- prising an upper transverse portion parallel to said base, a side vertical portion perpendicular thereto and a lower curved portion, said portions of said hook being integral, the inside surface of said hook, where said upper transverse portion meets said side, vertical portion being flattened to form a ninety degree angle. Such a meat handling roller provides a simpler and more economical construction than conventional rollers and greatly reduces loss of meat suspended thereon, as a result of sideways deflection of the supporting strap or other supporting means when the supporting means is caused to jump upwardly on the hook.
