078105-BJ-V IMPROVED MECHANICAL SEAL ASSEMBLY Abstract: A mechanical seal assembly adapted to be associated with a rotatable shaft (2) and a housing (14,90) and having a rotatable seal ring (16) and a stationary seal ring (10), each having seal faces (30,32) which engage seal faces (26,28) on a central seal ring (20), the latter seal ring being centered only on its outer diameter and being free to rotate relative to the other seal rings thus reducing the speed at the seal faces to the intermediate speed. An aspect of the disclosure is a double spring system (34,68) wherein seal ring means associated with a shaft and a housing are urged toward one another.
