A mechanical penile prosthesis which comprises an elongated, tubular, prestretched, elastic outer sheath (1) having a distal tip (2), a proximal tip (3) and an intermediate portion defining a hollow tubular chamber having positioned therein a central core anchored at each of its ends to a tip, and an articulated member positioned about the flexible core, which articulated member comprises a plurality of alternating rings (7) and discs (8), each of the rings being defined by a toroid having a curved surface, a substantially circular cross section and an outer circumference, each of the discs being defined by a toroid having a flattened upper surface (9) and a flattened lower surface, each surface having a peripheral portion which has a tapered or convex profile (10) which contacts the curved surface of the adjacent rings.

Protèse pénienne mécanique comportant une gaine externe élastique, allongée, tubulaire et pré-étirée (1) présentant une extrémité distale (2), une extrémité proximale (3) et une partie intermédiaire délimitant une chambre tubulaire creuse renfermant un noyau central ancré par chacune de ses parties terminales à une extrémité respective, ainsi qu'un élément articulé placé autour du noyau souple et pourvu de plusieurs anneaux (7) et disques (8) alternés, chacun des anneaux étant défini par un tore présentant une surface courbe, une section sensiblement circulaire et une circonférence externe, et chacun des disques étant défini par un tore présentant une face supérieure plane (9) et une face inférieure plane. Chacune de ces faces possède une partie périphérique de profil conique ou convexe (10) venant au contact de la surface courbe des anneaux contigus.
