Title: MECHANICAL PROTECTION COATING FOR COATED METAL SUBSTRATE Inventors: ERGO KARUKS and MARTIN ROHN ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cementitious coating is applied to a thin smooth, corrosion-protective coating of a pipe to protect the corrosion-protective coating against physical damage and hostile environments. The cementitious coating adheres to the corrosion- protective coating, is typically between 0.5 and-5.0 millimeters in thickness, and contains a cementitious material such as port- land cement, a polymeric material such as an acrylic polymer, and may also contain chopped fibres such as glass fibres and a filler material such as silica sand. The cementitious coating has sufficient conductivity to permit a cathodic protection current to flow therethrough. The cementitious coating may also be applied to the corrosion protective coating of the metal substrates. Polymer bonded coatings may alternatively be so applied, to protect the corrosion protective coating.
