The invention discloses a mechanical torque converter (100) having a casing (6), an input shaft (2) entering casing (6) and rotatable within the casing (6). An output shaft (5) exits casing (6) and is rotatable within casing (6). A gearbox (1) is located within casing (6) and coupled to input shaft (2). An escapement device (3) is within casing (6) and coupled to gearbox (1) to brake gearbox (1) under low speed and a clutch (4) co-operates with output shaft (5) and gearbox (1).

L'invention concerne un convertisseur de couple mécanique (100) constitué d'un carter (6), d'un arbre d'entrée (2) pénétrant dans le carter (6) et pouvant tourner à l'intérieur de celui-ci. Un arbre de sortie (5) sort du carter (6) et tourne à l'intérieur de celui-ci. Un engrenage (1) est placé à l'intérieur du carter (6) et est couplé à l'arbre d'entrée (2). Un dispositif de rencontre (3) se trouvant à l'intérieur du carter (6) et couplé à l'engrenage (1) permet de freiner cet dernier à basse vitesse et un embrayage (4) coopère avec l'arbre de sortie (5) et l'engrenage (1).
