Le dispositif, selon l'invention, comporte une chambre de combustion annulaire ou axiale fermée par une soupape et munie de moyens d'introduction de carburant et de comburant, et de moyens d'ignitlon ; il est caractérisé en ce que la soupape est constituée par un piston différentiel dont une face constitue une paroi mobile d'un réservoir de fluide sous pression et une partie de l'autre face constitue la paroi mobile de la chambre de combustion. La principale application du dispositif est dans l'émission d'ondes de compression en prospection sismique. FIGURE 1
