Disclosed is a mechanically-actuated shaver in which a non-electric actuating mechanism is used to drive an internal shaving member to rotate and thereby cuts off hair or beards. The actuating mechanism includes a rotatable cord wheel controlled by a pulling cord, a first spiral gear integrally formed with the cord wheel and thereby rotates with the cord wheel synchronously, a spiral spring fixed within the spiral gear to store energy of motion and enable the cord wheel to restore its original position, a transmission wheel having a second spiral gear meshing with the first spiral gear, a flywheel having a transmission shaft to couple with the transmission wheel and the internal shaving member, and a check mechanism provided between the transmission wheel and the flywheel such that the flywheel is brought by the check mechanism to rotate with the transmission wheel in only one direction. Due to the effect of inertia, the flywheel effects a stable and smooth operation of the shaver without any electric power supply.
