ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The adjusting mechanism comprises a fixed circular flange attached to an armature of the sitting portion of the seat. The fixed flange is recessed inside in a shape of a cup and contains a set of cells comprising a set of blocks placed at 120° from one another, each including an outer toothing. The blocks are bearing on block-pusher members each provided with a finger turned toward the mobile flange and bearing on a cam having three steps. The fingers of the block-pusher members cooperate with an unlatching ring housed inside the mobile flange and having three over-thicknesses provided for a holding in a position pushed back toward centre of the adjusting mechanism of the back portion of the seat when the cam has pivoted in a retracted direction.
