The present invention makes available methods and reagents for inhibiting aberrant growth states resulting from hedgehog gain-of-function, ptc loss-of- function or smoothened gain-of-function comprising contacting the cell with a hedgehog antagonist, such as a small molecule, in a sufficient amount to aberrant growth state, e.g.,to agonize a normal ptc pathway or antagonize smoothened or hedgehog activity.

La présente invention se rapporte à des procédés et à des réactifs permettant d'inhiber les états de croissance aberrante résultant d'un gain de fonction hedgehog, d'une perte de fonction ptc ou d'un gain de fonction smoothened. Lesdits procédés consistent à mettre en contact la cellule avec un antagoniste hedgehog, tel qu'une petite molécule, en quantité suffisante pour inhiber l'état de croissance aberrante, par exemple de manière à favoriser une voie ptc normale ou à s'opposer à une activité smoothened ou hedgehog.
