An inflatable medical balloon (40) at its distal end for introduction into a body part especially through an endoscope (46) and method of making the balloon. When fully inflated, the balloon (40) is a continuous body of balloon material with a generally cylindrical shape and four ribs (44) formed in the body. The ribs (44) are longitudinally and equidistantly arranged around an axis (A) which extends from the proximal end to the distal end of the balloon (40). The ribs (44) are formed of stressed balloon material. Webs (45) of less stressed balloon material are disposed between the ribs (44), the ribs and the webs forming the balloon (40) and being expandable from a folded condition for insertion into the body part to an expanded condition with a generally cylindrical shape and a diameter substantially greater than the folded condition whereby to provide medical treatment and, after treatment being revertible into a folded condition of predetermined configuration with the webs (45) between the ribs (44) collapsing inwardly towards the axis (A).
Un ballonnet médical gonflable (40) est destiné à être introduit par son extrémité distale dans une partie du corps, en particulier par l'intermédiaire d'un endoscope (46), l'invention concernant également le procédé de fabrication du ballon. Lorsqu'il est entièrement gonflé, le ballon (40) présente une forme généralement cylindrique ainsi que quatre nervures (44) formées dans sa structure. Les nervures (44) sont disposées longitudinalement et de manière équidistantes autour d'un axe (A) qui s'étend de l'extrémité proximale jusqu'à l'extrémité distale du ballon (40). Les nervures (44) sont constituées de matière contrainte du ballon. Les membranes (45) de matière de ballon moins contrainte sont disposées entre les nervures (44), les nervures et les membranes formant ensemble le ballon (40). Le ballon est étirable à partir d'un état plié d'introduction dans une partie du corps pour prendre un état étiré, avec une forme généralement cylindrique et un diamètre sensiblement supérieur que lorsqu'il est plié. Dans son état déployé il est destiné à un traitement médical puis, après traitement, il peut être ramené à son état plié, de configuration prédéterminée, les membranes (45) se trouvant entre les nervures (44) s'affaissant vers l'intérieur vers l'axe (A).
