A medical device (1) for retracting tissue allows access to the inside of the body by "prying open" an existing or created opening in a body. The device (1) comprises a substantially transparent head (2) having first and second head halves (2a, 2b) defining a substantially conical surface including a gap (4) when the first and second head halves (2a, 2b) are joined. Angular motion of the first and second head halves enlarges the existing or created opening and provides an area of access to the inside of the body. The substantially transparent nature of the device (1) allows it to function as a light pipe so that the operator can see the body cavity or tract opened by the device. The device has scissors-like handles (3) to allow an operator to open or close the device with one hand.

Dispositif médical (1) servant à écarter le tissu afin de pouvoir accéder à l'intérieur du corps par écartement d'une ouverture existante ou créée dans le corps. Ce dispositif (1) comprend une tête (2) pratiquement transparente possédant une première et une deuxième moitiés (2a, 2b) définissant une surface sensiblement conique présentant un espace (4) quand cette première et cette deuxième moitiés (2a, 2b) sont réunies. Le déplacement angulaire de la première et de la deuxième moitiés de tête (2a, 2b) agrandit l'ouverture existante ou créée et permet d'obtenir une zone d'accès à l'intérieur du corps. La transparence sensible de ce dispositif (1) lui permet de fonctionner de la même façon qu'un conduit de lumière, de sorte que le praticien peut visualiser la cavité corporelle ou la voie ouverte par ce dispositif. Ce dernier possède des poignées (3) semblables à celle de ciseaux permettant de l'ouvrir ou de le fermer d'une seule main.
