A port (20) is formed in a thermoplastic container wall (22) by slitting the wall (22), inserting a thermoplastic tube (26) through the slit (24), placing a mandrel (34) in the tube, placing opposed dies (30, 32) defining a bore over the sheet (22) and tube (26), and dielectrically heating the thermoplastic to fuse the tube (26) and sheet (22). Preferably the bore defined by the dies (30, 32) is of a diameter slightly less than that of the tube (26), and has an enlarged central area which forms a thickened section (40) of material over the slit (24).

Cet orifice (20) est réalisé dans la paroi (22) d'un récipient thermoplastique par la suite d'opérations suivantes. Après avoir fendu la paroi (22), un tube thermoplastique (26) est introduit par la fente (24). Une matrice (34) est mise en place dans le tube en disposant ses deux éléments opposés (30, 32) de façon à définir un perçage commun au travers de la feuille (22) et du tube (26). Un chauffage des éléments thermoplastiques par procédé diélectrique fait fondre le tube (26) et la feuille (22). Le perçage défini par les éléments de matrice (30, 32) est de préférence d'un diamètre légèrement inférieur à celui du tube (26). En outre, ce perçage comporte de préférence une zone centrale élargie dont section en coupe (40) rassemble une plus grande épaisseur de matière au niveau de la fente (24).
