The present invention is an occlusion device (10) adapted for implantation into a fluid flow-supporting body lumen. The occlusion device (10) comprises a flexible support structure (13) and a flexible fluid flow-occluding membrane (20) that is positioned concentric with the flexible support structure (13). The support structure (13) is formed from a plurality of interwoven filaments (16) that form an axially flexible and radially compressible structure that, in its expanded state, engages the lumen. The membrane (20) generally includes a constricted region (24) and constriction means, such as a mechanical seal (28), for closing the membrane (20) at one end. The membrane (20) is formed from a plurality of filaments (26), and in one embodiment, the membrane filaments (26) are tightly interbraided with the structure filaments (16) to form the occlusion device (10). Alternatively, the membrane (20) is separately fabricated of interwoven filaments, and is positioned either within the support structure or without the structure so as to surround the support structure.
L'invention porte sur un dispositif d'occlusion (10) à insérer dans une lumière corporelle supportant l'écoulement d'un liquide. Le dispositif d'occlusion (10) comporte une structure de support souple (13) et une membrane souple d'occlusion (20) de l'écoulement du liquide, qui est placée de façon concentrique par rapport à la structure de support souple (13). Cette dernière (13) est créée à partir d'une série de filaments entrecroisés (16) formant eux-mêmes une structure axialement souple et radialement comprimable qui, une fois déployée, pénètre dans la lumière. La membrane (20) inclut généralement une partie à étranglement (24) et un élément d'étranglement, tel qu'un joint mécanique (28), permettant de fermer la membrane (20) à une extrémité. Elle (20) est également formée à partir d'une série de filaments (26). Dans une configuration, les filaments (26) de la membrane sont tressés de façon serrée avec les filaments (16) de structure pour former le dispositif d'occlusion (10). Dans une autre configuration, la membrane (20) est fabriquée séparément de filaments entrecroisés et est placée soit à l'intérieur de la structure de support, soit à l'extérieur de cette dernière pour l'entourer.
