This invention features a medical guidewire (10) constructed for insertion into the body for providing access to a body passage. The medical guidewire (10) has a main proximal portion in the form of an elongated tube (20) extending the majority of the length of the guidewire, and a distal tubular portion (24) integral with the main proximal portion. The distal portion includes a distal end and a flexible section (30) having a slot (32) cut in the wall of the distal tubular portion. The slot (32) crosses the right sections of the distal tubular portion at an oblique angle, and extends continuously about the distal tubular portion (24) to increase the flexibility of the distal tubular portion (24) with respect to the main proximal portion.

Cette invention se rapporte à un fil-guide (10) à usage médical conçu pour être introduit à l'intérieur du corps et permettre l'accès à un passage corporel. Ce fil-guide (10) à usage médical comporte d'une part, une partie principale proximale ayant la forme d'un tube allongé (20) et constituant un segment majeur de la longueur du fil-guide et d'autre part, une partie distale tubulaire (24) d'un seul tenant avec la partie principale proximale. Ladite partie distale comporte une extrémité distale et une section flexible ayant une découpe (32) de type fente ménagée dans la paroi de ladite partie distale tubulaire. Cette fente (32) croise les sections droites de la partie distale tubulaire suivant un angle oblique et elle se développe de manière continue autour de la partie distale tubulaire (24) et ce, dans le but d'accroître la flexibilité de la partie distale tubulaire (24) par rapport à la partie principale proximale.
