A reservoir system for delivering an active agent into an oral cavity over an extended delivery period includes a pair of rigid plastic containers (18), which each have a hollow interior space for containing the active agent, at least one opening (28, 30) for dispensing the active agent, and a flexible plastic appliance (20) for securing the containers within the oral cavity at a desired location. The containers (18) are located within chambers (16) formed in opposite sides of the appliance. The container includes a molded plastic body having a size and shape suitable for comfortably retaining the container within the oral cavity for the extended delivery time. The body is generally oval, cabochon-shaped to comfortably fit in the vestibule between the teeth/gums and cheek of the patient and has a plurality of dimples (76) for selectively forming venting and dispensing holes at desired locations.
L'invention concerne un système réservoir destiné à libérer une substance active dans une cavité buccale au cours d'une période prolongée. Ce système comporte une paire de contenants plastiques rigides (18) possédant chacun un espace intérieur creux destiné à contenir ladite substance active; au moins une ouverture (28, 30) destinée à libérer ladite substance; et un dispositif plastique souple (20) destiné à fixer lesdits contenants à l'intérieur de la cavité buccale au niveau d'un emplacement souhaité. Ces contenants (18) sont situés à l'intérieur d'enveloppes (16) formées dans des côtés opposés dudit dispositif. Le contenant comporte un corps en plastique moulé dont la taille et la forme permettent de fixer de manière confortable le contenant à l'intérieur de la cavité buccale et ce, au cours d'une période prolongée. Le corps est généralement ovale et en forme de cabochon de sorte qu'il s'adapte confortablement au vestibule situé entre les dents/gencives et la joue du patient, il possède également une pluralité d'évidements (76) destinés à former de manière sélective des trous d'évacuation et de libération au niveau d'emplacements souhaités.
