A medical suite includes a room divided into two sections with a moveable door therebetween. A first x-ray imaging apparatus is positioned in one section in a mono-planar configuration. A second x-ray imaging apparatus is translatable between a first position in the other section in a mono-planar configuration and a second position in the one section in a bi-planar configuration with the first x-ray imaging apparatus. Consequently, facility cost is reduced over that of separate mono-planar and bi-planar arrangements while patient throughput is maintained. Reconfiguration to bi-planar can be accomplished during patient preparation thereby not impacting throughput.
