The invention relates to a method to induce apoptosis and to inhibit matrix metalloproteinases in a disease condition in a human or animal by contacting hyperplastic tissue, tumor tissue, or a cancerous lesion with one or more antimicrobial metals, preferably formed with atomic disorder, and preferably in a nanocrystalline form. The nanocrystalline antimicrobial metal of choise may be used in the form of a nanocrystalline coating of one or more antimicrobial metals, a nanocrystalline powder of one or more antimicrobial metals , or a solution containing dissolved species from a nanocrystalline powder or coating of one or more antimicrobial metals .
La présente invention concerne un procédé pour induire une apoptose et pour inhiber des métalloprotéinases matricielles en cas d'état pathologique chez un être humain ou chez un animal, par mise en contact d'un tissu hyperplasique, d'un tissu tumoral ou d'une lésion cancéreuse avec un ou plusieurs métaux antimicrobiens, présentant de préférence un désordre atomique et se présentant de préférence sous forme nanocristalline. Le métal antimicrobien nanocristallin choisi peut être utilisé sous forme de revêtement nanocristallin d'un ou de plusieurs métaux antimicrobiens, d'une poudre nanocristalline d'un ou de plusieurs métaux antimicrobiens ou d'une solution contenant des espèces dissoutes d'une poudre nanocristalline ou d'un revêtement d'un ou de plusieurs métaux antimicrobiens.
