A pharmaceutical suspension formulation suitable for aerosol administration having from 0.0025 to 0.1 % w/w of micronized Formoterol, or an acid addition salt thereof, from 0.1 to 5.0 % w/w ethanol, HFA 134a, HFA 227 or a mixture of HFA 227 and HFA 134a, and optionally a surfactant other than a monoacetylated or diacetylated monoglyceride, the formulation being further characterized in that it exhibits substantially no growth in particle size or change in crystal morphology of the drug over a prolonged period, is substantially and readily redispersible, and upon redispersion does not flocculate so quickly as to prevent reproducible dosing of the drug.

Cette invention concerne une formulation pharmaceutique en suspension adaptée à une administration sous forme d'aérosol et comportant de 0,0025 à 0,1 % de Formotérol micronisé, ou un sel d'addition d'acide de ce dernier, de 0,1 à 5,0 % en poids d'éthanol, du HFA 134a, du HFA 227 ou un mélange de HFA 227 et de HFA 134a, et éventuellement un agent tensioactif autre qu'un monoglycéride monoacétylé ou diacétylé, ladite formulation se caractérisant par ailleurs en ce qu'elle ne présente pratiquement aucune croissance de la taille de ses particules ni aucune modification de la morphologie des cristaux du médicament lors d'une conservation prolongée, en ce qu'elle est sensiblement et facilement dispersible et en ce que, au cours de la remise en suspension, elle ne flocule pas trop rapidement pour empêcher un dosage reproductible du médicament.
