L'invention concerne un moyen qui permet de traiter ou de prévenir des maladies, telles que troubles cérébraux et maladies neurodégénératives de façon plus efficace et avec un meilleur effet de longue durée. Plus précisément, l'invention concerne des inhibiteurs capables d'inhiber la liaison de la protéine HMG-I à préséniline-2 mARN exon 5; des inhibiteurs de la mort cellulaire de nerfs capables de réguler la mort cellulaire de nerfs; des compositions médicinales permettant de traiter ou de prévenir des maladies provoquées par la production d'un variant d'épissage manquant de préséniline-2 mARN exon 5.
