Disclosed herein is a medium for analyzing a substance in a mixture and method of making and using. In particular, the medium comprises a network of at least one polymeric fiber having a derivatized polymeric surface which allows immobilization of at least one selective binding agent thereon in a highly dispersed and randomly spaced orientation which forms a tortuous interstitial path for passage of the mixture therethrough. The substance may be a chemical substance or a biological substance. Also disclosed are assay matrices, assay systems and kits comprising the medium.
L'invention concerne un support permettant d'analyser une substance dans un mélange, ainsi qu'un procédé de fabrication et d'utilisation de celui-ci. Plus spécifiquement, ce support comprend un réseau d'au moins une fibre polymère possédant une surface polymère dérivée permettant l'immobilisation d'au moins un agent de liaison sélective. Cette ou ces fibres présentent une orientation très dispersée et aléatoire qui forme un chemin interstitiel tortueux pour le passage du mélange. La substance peut être une substance chimique ou une substance biologique. L'invention concerne également des matrices d'essais, des systèmes d'essais et des kits comprenant ce support.
