In a standard engine, the engine is started by inserting the key into the ignition switch and turning the key. This closes the starter solenoid circuitry which engages the starter and starts the engine. In this invention, the device maintains the starter circuit in a normally open position by disconnecting the circuit on the ground side of the solenoid until overridden with an electronically coded signal from the transmitter which temporarily closes the circuit to enable the starter. This device makes the engine impossible to start or "hot-wire" from the passenger compartment and will not affect the normal operation of the engine, once started. A prototype of this device has been built and tested without any failure for 90 days as of June 13, 1994.
