An extruder screw (10) mechanism has a barrel (26), an internal screw (20), and a cylindrical melt sleeve (30) having a plurality of circumferentially spaced, axially extending, radial slots (34) therethrough located between the external barrel and the internal screw. Another embodiment has a barrel and an internal screw (65), with the internal screw having either a single central axial bore (89) or a plurality of internal axial bores (89). The internal screw has a plurality of external threads, with the threads (70) each having a curved starting portion with a helix angle that has a finite value and gradually increases along the screw until the threads are linear and parallel to the axis of the screw. Another embodiment has a threadless portion (100) separating the linear threads from the curved upstream threads. Circumferentially spaced, axially extending, radial slots (87) extend from the outer surface of the screw along the melt portion radially inwardly to an axial bore for removing melted polymer.

L'invention concerne une vis d'extrudeuse (10) comprenant un fourreau (26), une vis interne (20), et un manchon de fusion (30) cylindrique comprenant une pluralité de fentes radiales (34) espacées sur la circonférence du manchon de façon axiale, situées entre le fourreau externe et la vis interne. Un autre mode de réalisation comprend un fourreau et une vis interne (65), la vis interne comprenant soit un orifice axial central unique (89) soit une pluralité d'orifices axiaux internes. La vis interne comprend une pluralité de filets externes, chaque filet (70) possédant une zone de départ incurvée avec un angle d'hélice de valeur finie qui augmente progressivement le long de la vis jusqu'à ce que les filets soient linéaires et parallèles à l'axe de la vis. Un autre mode de réalisation comprend une zone sans filets (100) séparant les filets linéaires des linéaires incurvés en amont. Des fentes radiales (34) espacées sur la circonférence du manchon de façon axiale, partent de la surface externe de la vis le long de la zone de fusion radialement vers l'intérieur vers un orifice axial destiné à la récupération du polymère en fusion.
