The invention concerns melted alumina-zirconia grains corresponding to the following chemical composition, expressed in mass %: ZiO2 + HfO2 10.60 %; Al2O3 38 to 90 %; SiO2 < 0.8 %; impurities < 1.2 %, characterised in that they have a slightly reduced state such that the grains contain less than 100 ppm of carbon and have: a) a porosity, defined by the number of pores with size greater than 20 µm, not more than 6 for grains number F24 (European Federation of the Manufacturers of Abrasive Products F standard), 2 for grains number F60 and 1 for grains number F100; and b) a tenacity, such as defined in the description, of at least 2.5 Mpa.m1/2 after calcination at 900 ~C for 4 hours. The invention is useful for making abrasive tools and refractory parts.
L'invention concerne des grains d'alumine-zircone fondus présentant l'analyse chimique suivante, en % en masse: Zr¿O?2 + Hf¿O?2: 10-60%; Al¿2?O¿3?: 38 à 90%; Si¿O?2: < 0,8%; Impuretés: < 1,2%caractérisés en ce qu'ils présentent un état légèrement réduit tel que lesdits grains contiennent moins de 100 ppm de carbone, et présentent: a) une porosité, définie par le nombre de pores d'une taille supérieure à 20 µm, au plus égale à 6 pour des grains de numéro F24 (norme FEPA F), 2 pour des grains de numéro F60 et 1 pour des grains de numéro F100, et b) une ténacité, telle que définie dans la description, d'au moins 2,5MPa.m¿1/2? après calcination à 900·C sous air pendant 4 heures. Utilisation pour la fabrication d'outils abrasifs et de pièces réfractaires.
