Abstract of the Disclosure A buffer layer is interiorly disposed on the bottom of a hollow furnace body, the buffer layer having an upper surface formed with a recessed portion to melt radioactive wastes therein. The radioactive wastes are fallen into the recessed portion through a guide cylinder and heated and melted by a heating means in said portion. The buffer layer is provided to prevent the furnace body from being damaged by a shock which occurs when the radioactive wastes are fallen into the recessed portion.
