The invention relates to a membrane-electrode unit comprising at least one membrane, at least two electrode layers, and at least one barrier junction that contains at least one catalytically active species and/or at least one adsorbent material, the barrier junction not being electronically conducting when a catalytically active species is provided. Also disclosed are the use of such a barrier junction in a membrane-electrode unit and in a fuel cell as well as a gas diffusion electrode and a fuel cell containing such a membrane-electrode unit.

La présente invention concerne une unité membrane-électrodes comprenant au moins une membrane, au moins deux couches d'électrode et au moins une couche d'arrêt qui contient au moins une espèce catalytiquement active et/ou au moins une matière absorbante et qui n'est pas électroniquement conductrice en la présence d'une espèce catalytiquement active. L'invention a également pour objet l'utilisation d'une telle couche d'arrêt dans une unité membrane-électrodes et dans une pile à combustible, ainsi qu'une électrode à diffusion de gaz et une pile à combustible comprenant une telle unité membrane-électrodes.
