Abstract of the Disclosure A membrane for an electroacoustic converter system comprises a multi-layer body at least one layer of which is viscoelastic and has a low retractile elasticity. This layer has an almost constant maximum damping factor over a temperature range of more than 10°C. The body has at least one layer of foil having a modulus of elasticity of more than 10,000 kg/cm2. The viscoelastic material may be a graft-type polymer and the foil may be a poly- ester, polycarbonate or polyvinylfluoride film. This provision of the foil layer increases the temperature range in which maximum dampening is exhibited without detracting from the mechanical strength of the membrane.
