It has been found that certain chemicals such as peroxide may be concentrated in an aqueous solution by increasing the pH of a feed liquor to increase the amount of the chemical in an ionized form, i.e. increase the ionized fraction and then separating the feed liquor by reverse osmosis through a reverse osmosis membrane into a retentate having an enhanced concentration of chemical in ionized form relative to the feed liquor and a permeate having a reduced concentration of chemical in ionized form relative to the feed liquor. The process is particularly suited to increasing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide.
