Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to the formulation of custom membrane switch assemblies through the use of stock switch portions and stock space proportions which allows for the reduction in the custom work and expense, including inventory, associated with making custom membrane switch assemblies. The membrane switch assembly comprises at least two modular switch portions which each have at least one column of switching zones, with the center-to-center distance between the switching zones being a particular integer, and with each of the switch portions having an edge at a distance which is 1/2 of the integer from the column of the switching zones in a direction which is transverse to an axis passing through the column of zones, and with a modular spacer portion with spacing being maintained between the switching zones in different switch portions.
