A material especially useful for the selective oxidation of hydrocarbons and- other organic compounds includes a non-crystalline, porous inorganic oxide having at least 97 volume percent mesopores based on micropores and mesopores, and at least one catalytically active metal selected from the group consisting of one or more transition metal and one or more noble metal.

L'invention concerne un matériau utilisé en particulier pour l'oxydation sélective d'hydrocarbures et d'autres composants organiques et qui comprend un oxyde non cristallin, poreux, non organique présentant au moins 97 pour-cent en volume de mésopores sur la base de micropores et de mésopores. Ledit matériau comprend au moins un métal actif de manière catalytique, sélectionné dans le groupe constitué d'un ou plusieurs métaux de transition et d'un ou plusieurs métaux nobles.
