A method for synthesising metal oxide particles comprises preparing a pre-sol solution, and hydrolysing and condensing the pre-sol solution under supercritical fluid conditions to form macroscopic mesoporous particles having ordered pore structures. The pre-sol solution may contain a mixture of surfactants such as CTAB and P123. The supercritical fluid may be scCO2. The mesoporous particles may be spheres with a mesopore diameter in the range of 2 to 15 nm and macroscopic diameters of from 1 to 5 microns. The particles are useful in chromatography and other applications.

La présente invention propose un procédé de synthèse de particules d'oxyde métallique qui comprend la préparation d'une solution pré-sol, puis l'hydrolyse et la condensation de la solution pré-sol dans des conditions de fluide supercritique afin de former des particules mésoporeuses macroscopiques ayant des structures de pores ordonnées. La solution pré-sol peut contenir un mélange de tensioactifs tels que CTAB et P123. Le fluide supercritique peut être du scCO2. Les particules mésoporeuses peuvent être des sphères avec un diamètre des mésopores dans la plage de 2 à 15 nm et des diamètres macroscopiques compris entre 1 et 5 microns. Les particules sont utiles en chromatographie et dans d'autres applications.
