A fuel treatment device comprising an inlet through which fuel enters the device; an outlet through which fuel exits the device; an annular fuel filtering element; and solder The annular fuel filtering element comprises an inner wall forming the annulus of the armular fuel filtering element. The solder and the annular fuel filtering element are arranged such that fuel flows from the inlet, through the annular fuel filtering element into the annulus, passes in proximity to the solder and through the outlet. The fuel treatment device is easily installed in an engine system. The preferred solder is Lead-Free and is available in hardware stores, plumbing supply outlets and farm supply stores. The most effective solder used to date is a Litton-Kester Solder alloy which is 95% Tin and 5% Antimony. Other Lead-Free brands which are 97% Tin and 3% Copper give very similar results.
