An electrically insulating composition for bonding to metal and method for applying the composition in sheet form. The insulating composition comprises a polyolefin polymer adapted for elevated temperature crosslinking and a co- bonding agent mixed with the polyolefin polymer in an amount up to 60 parts of the co-bonding agent to 100 parts of the polyolefin polymer. Preferably, the insulating composition cures in contact with metal pre-heated to elevated temperatures in a range from 140 ~C to 190 ~C to provide a lap-shear bond strength between the electrically insulating composition and a metal substrate of from 3.3 MPa to 12 MPa.
L'invention concerne une composition d'isolation électrique pour la liaison avec des métaux et un procédé relatif à l'application de la composition sous forme de dépôt en feuille. La composition renferme un polymère de polyoléfine se prêtant à la réticulation à haute température et un agent de co-liaison mélangé avec ce polymère, selon des proportions allant jusqu'à 60 parties de l'agent pour 100 parties du polymère. De préférence, la composition durcit au contact de métal préchauffé à des températures élevées, comprises entre 140 DEG C et 190 DEG C, ce qui donne une liaison dont la résistance au cisaillement de recouvrement, entre la composition et un substrat métallique, va de 3,3 MPa à 12 MPa.
