The Metal Capped Plastic Came is an elongated strip of came, with internal components made of plastic and the exterior capped with a thin layer of metal, giving the appearance of solid metal came. The came is designed to provide a stronger, more wind-resistant frame for decorative or designer doors, windows or panels. The design includes flexible plastic wings that extend at an angle downward from each side of the interior wall of the came. The wings function as compressing blades to firmly clasp the glass window panes that are inserted into the came. The design also includes grooves on the surface of the edge of U-shaped came to provides adhesiveness to the rubber tape used during the installation of the glass panes. The method of assembly involves long strips of came being cut to the size and design of the frame, the glass panes are inserted into the came, secured in the window frame and then the joints are soldered to give the appearance of pure metal.
